Trainee on the Year 2010

As was explained on the night by Ian Higgins Vice Chairman of the CLMA the number of entrants for the Apprentice/Trainee of the year award was of a very high standard and three of the applicants were outstanding.

After due deliberation the adjudicating panel took the unprecedented decision to make three awards.
Todd Willis Scion Technical Services Ltd, Will Maddox Integral UK Limited, Rikesh Patel Environmental Control Services Limited.

Because of the number of awards given the event turned out to be a family occasion as nominees were encouraged to bring along relatives for support. If you or your company is interested in sponsoring and nominating an apprentice or trainee for 2011 please go to the sponsor’s page on this web site or contact a committee member for more details.

INFORMATION ABOUT THE TRAINEE OF THE YEAR AWARD

The Central London Maintenance Association Trainee/Apprentice of the year award embraces the concept that that the future wellbeing of the maintenance industry is dependent on encouraging young people to value buildings maintenance and associated trades as a worthwhile and progressive career opportunity.

This annual award serves to raise the profile of the trainees and the companies that support them and also to acknowledge the individual and business achievements of those whom have the foresight and good will to secure the future of our industry.

The majority of maintenance business directors and managers are recruited from our technical workforce and by recognizing the enthusiasm and abilities of trainees and the ongoing commitment of companies that recruit and support them we proactively encourage best practice of technical expertise and managerial excellence within the buildings maintenance sector.

We generally invite companies to submit suitable candidates around January each year and appoint a panel of qualified arbitrators to judge and decide on the company trainee/apprentice to be put forward for the award.

The process for selection will require a brief conversation with your training manager followed by a brief questions and answer session between the trainee and the adjudicating panel.

Successful trainees will receive a trophy and a monetary gift and as the prizes are awarded at our annual dinner contributing companies are invited to become sponsors for this event.
