About the CLMA
The Central London Maintenance Association (CLMA) was inaugurated on 19th May, 1966 to promote management excellence within the buildings maintenance industries through the mediums of informal discussion and exchange of ideas throughout the whole field of maintenance, covering all aspects of buildings, plant, machinery and fabrics.
We hold regular meetings bi-monthly on the second Thursday of every even month.
We pursue our common interests of promoting excellence throughout the buildings maintenance sector at regular meetings held at various locations within Central London.
The Association has the merit of complete autonomy, controlling its own affairs entirely, forming a platform to promote the CLMA and its member’s interests on a national basis.
Since the inception of the CLMA the maintenance industry has changed dramatically and the CLMA considers that although it must retain its original ideals it is paramount to develop a new role in providing independent support to members addressing the requirements of statutory acts and regulations associated with our industry.
More recently the CLMA has realigned its membership strategy to widen support to its members through a net work of supporting organisations to give information and advice on various statutory health and safety issues.
Membership of the CLMA is open to anyone having a controlling position in Maintenance. There is no academic bar to entry as The CLMA is not in any sense a ‘learned society’; it has been formed by, and caters for, the interest of individuals engaged in maintenance activities for engineering and building fabric maintenance disciplines.
The main qualification for membership is to be a representative member for your company, business or government department involved in maintenance issues on a regular basis.
Our members represent a wide range of management personnel within the private and public maintenance sectors from senior executives to junior managers and supervisors.
Our members are involved in a wide range of maintenance activities in industrial and commercial concerns, including large and small office complexes, Government and Local Authority Buildings, Oil Companies, Banks, Business Houses, and Hospitals. We also have a limited number of representatives from associated consulting and contracting industries.
Private subscription to the CLMA is presently £39.00 per annum plus an initial registration fee of £25.00 – Total £64.00.
Company subscription to the CLMA is presently £190.00 per annum plus an initial registration fee of £50.00 – Total £240.00.
Meetings of the Association are generally held bi monthly throughout the year mostly on week-day afternoons; and usually on the premises of members’ firms, where suitable accommodation is available, guest speakers covering a wide range of interests are invited to meetings where discussion in an informal atmosphere is generally brisk.
Meetings usually commence at about 3.00 p.m. and finish at about 5.00 p.m. Outside visits to places of interest to the members are also arranged.
If you have a controlling position in maintenance, and you are looking for the common ground on which a friendly and informal exchange of problems, opinions and experience can be helpful, then the CLMA provides this.
If you are new to the maintenance industry and are inexperienced or just need someone to talk to on maintenance issues then you are invited to join for informal support.
We have few women members and are keen to promote their interests in our industry by inviting them to join in and take an active role within our association.
